FAQ Tiles
What is better, porcelain or ceramic tiles?
Whilst both tiles are robust, hard-wearing and waterproof, porcelain tiles have the edge over ceramic tiles. As they are made out of finer particles than ceramic tiles and fired at a higher temperature, their density makes them tougher, harder wearing and more water resistant than ceramic tiles.
Can you tile over tiles?
If the underlying tiles are solid, level and structurally sound, we can use specialist adhesive to lay tile over tile. The only disadvantage of this is the increased flooring height, which may mean doors need trimming at the base, so they do not scrape against the raised floor.
What is the difference between a wall and floor tile?
Floor tiles are much thicker than wall tiles because they are weight-bearing and need to withstand constant foot traffic and the weight of furniture and appliances. Wall tiles tend to be thinner, smoother, and more delicate than floor tiles.
Can I use large format tiles in a small room?
Yes, a large tile can open up a small room and make it feel more spacious. The larger the tile, the less visible grout lines, creating an illusion of space.
Can I use a steam mop to clean a tiled floor?
Yes, steam mops are a great way to clean a tiled floor. The steam will remove dirt and debris from the tile and clean and sanitise the grout.
